A Worcestershire man scooped a £15,000 cash prize on his 39th birthday.

Alexandru Anechitei, from Evesham, was working when he received a surprise call from online competition firm BOTB, announcing his win in the Daily Draws Competition.

Mr Anechitei, who held back his tears, said: "The money will help me a lot, it's almost half of my yearly salary.

“I was already having a nice birthday, but when I received the call and found out I had won it felt amazing.

"I have had so many nice messages from friends and family."

Mr Anechitei, who is a team leader for a transport company, said he plans to use the money to pay off some debts and go on holiday.

He said: "I work so hard so I would love a holiday and I'm thinking about going away with some friends in the summer.

"My dream is to go somewhere in the Caribbean like the Dominican Republic."

BOTB awards dream cars each week and lifestyle prizes.

This February, it is hosting its biggest giveaway to date, offering players a chance to win £1 million.

Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, BOTB has so far gifted £64million worth of cars.

Christian Williams, BOTB presenter, who delivered the good news to Mr Anechitei, said: "It was amazing to be able to video call Alexandru on his birthday and surprise him with the news he had won this fantastic cash prize.

"It obviously means an awful lot to him as he was desperately trying to hold back the tears.

"I'm sure he will enjoy spending the money once the news has sunk in."
