THE chance of snow later this week has dramatically reduced as a band of sleet and snow has shifted north, weather forecasters have said.

As we previously reported the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow in Worcestershire later this week.

People are being warned to expect disruption caused by snowfall on Thursday and Friday (February 8 and 9).

But on Tuesday morning, (February 6), the county was no longer being covered by the warning on the Met Office maps.

And Jo Farrow, a forecaster at Pershore-based Netweather, says the current forecast is for it to rain and there to be no snow.

"There is cold arctic air moving into Scotland from the north and mild air from the south," the forecaster said.

"It has been a tricky forecast because lots of models are showing the band of sleet and snow falling in different places.

"Worcestershire was covered by it, but the band has now moved to the north."

The forecaster said nothing was certain and things may still change again but as it stands Netweather's model showed a 0 per cent chance of snow.

Met Office's warning says: "A period of snowfall could bring some disruption on Thursday and Thursday night.

"There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected".

But the Met Office's changed map shows the area covered is now north of Stoke-on-Trent.
