A POPULAR 19th-century wedding venue will be closed until the autumn for a major refurbishment.
Dumbleton Hall Hotel, near Evesham, has announced the temporary closure with a promise to "unveil a new chapter" later this year.
In a message on its phone line the Manor House, set in 19 acres of its own grounds and which has a history dating back to 1534, is telling callers the hotel is closed for "six to eight months" for the refurbishment.
On its website, the hotel says: "Dumbleton Hall is on a journey of enchantment.
"We are embarking on a captivating journey of refurbishment, and our doors will be temporarily closed until we unveil our new chapter in autumn 2024.
"Prepare to be swept away by the grandeur of the revitalised Grand Manor, discover exquisitely redesigned rooms infused with contemporary comfort, alongside a new restaurant concept that promises to tantalize your taste buds.
"For now, we are keeping the magic under wraps but stay tuned for sneak peeks and updates on our social media channels.
"Be among the first to experience the newly transformed Dumbleton Hall – mark your calendars for autumn 2024, and get ready to create unforgettable memories.
"We can’t wait to welcome you back and share the magic with you."
We reported in 2021 the country house hotel, located in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, had been sold to a US buyer after having a £6 million guide price.
On Tripadvisor the hotel, on a private estate which overlooks the Cotswold village of the same name, is described as having 38 en-suite bedrooms.
Tripadvisor, which rates the venue as four stars "very good" based on more than 1,600 reviews, said: "It is a wonderful location for a midweek break, as a wedding venue at weekends and is also able to offer conference facilities for up to 100 delegates."
On the post about the refurbishment, one former visitor wrote: "We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary there, having married there back in 2003.
"We also came back for our 1st and 10th anniversaries as well.
"I really hope it retains it's old world charm - I liked the feeling that it was ours on the day.
"Please don't lose that homely charm (or rack the prices up too much)."
