Children attending an extra-curricular club in Evesham no longer have to brave the weather following a fundraising campaign that covered the cost of a minibus to pick them up.
Students at the Shine Out of School Clubs, at the Evesham Methodist Church Hall, will no longer have to fight through weather conditions varying from thunder and lightning to sweltering heat on foot.
Trustee, Rev Chris Sheehan, said: "We couldn't have raised enough money without the generous support of Worcestershire County Council, Wychavon and John Martins charity, not forgetting numerous local businesses, relatives and friends of the Club.
"Not only will our After School Club children benefit from having this bus, but children attending our HAF clubs will be able to go on more interesting visits eg to theatres, animal parks or theatres."
One child said: "We don't have to walk from school in the rain any more."
Another said: "We get to Shine more quickly now for our activities", with another adding: "I can hardly wait to get to my afternoon snack meal. Now I don’t have to wait long."
Trustee Glen Lyon initiated the purchase and now works as one of its volunteer drivers.
