A TOWN and county councillor described as 'a champion of Evesham' has died unexpectedly.
Worcestershire county councillor Peter Griffiths died on Thursday.
Mr Griffiths was a serving member of Worcestershire County Council. He was elected in May 2021 to represent the Evesham North West Division.
He served on several committees including the Audit and Governance Committee, Corporate and Communities Overview and Scrutiny Panel, Environment Overview and Scrutiny Panel, Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Planning and Regulatory Committee.
He was also a member of Evesham Town Council.
Leader of Worcestershire County Council, Simon Geraghty said: "We all mourn the very sad passing of our friend and colleague Peter Griffiths, who died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon.
"Not only was Peter a very active member of Worcestershire County Council but was also a dedicated and committed champion for Evesham. I know Peter’s family will be in all our thoughts at this very difficult time and offer my sincere condolences. The loss of Peter will be felt by many across the county of Worcestershire.”
