PERSISTENT offenders and regulars at Worcester courts have been given strict Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO) this year in an effort to prevent them from further offending.
A CBO is an order of the courts designed to tackle the most serious and persistent anti-social individuals.
Breaches of CBOs are a criminal offence in themselves.
Among those given the punishment in 2023 are:
Andrew Wilcox, 64, from Malvern, who was given a criminal behaviour order in June after failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice.
Wilcox has been prohibited from entering Co-op on Worcester Road and Waitrose on Edith Walk.
As part of the CBO he has also been ordered to not urinate or defecate in any public place apart from public toilets.
Prolific aggressive shoplifter Kelly Phipps, 42, of Brookfield, Little Comberton, Pershore, was jailed and given a CBO to curb her stealing and aggression.
Phipps was made the subject of a three-year criminal behaviour order in early December.
Among the shops she is prohibited from entering are Tesco Express, High Street, Pershore; House of Fraser, Chapel Walk, Worcester and Sports Direct, Riverside Shopping Centre, Bridge Street, Evesham.
Pershore shoplifter Tom Cole, 25, was banned from three shops in the town under his CBO.
Cole had behaved anti socially, disorderly and at times in a threatening manner towards shop staff and members of the public.
Cole has spent Christmas in prison thanks to a 26-week sentence for shoplifting and was given a CBO.
It states Cole can not enter Tesco on High Street, Pershore; Asda on King George’s Way, Pershore and the Factory Shop in Pershore.
He also must not make contact or communicate with a named individual (victim who is a member of shop staff) in any way, either directly or indirectly.
Two of his three burglaries took place in Malvern in May 2023 and June 2023, when motor vehicles were stolen from the addresses.
Harbourne, of Stourbridge, was jailed for four years and given a six-year CBO.
The order has a number of conditions including being banned from entering Malvern in its entirety.
After sentence Detective Constable Chris Tugwell said: "I hope this conviction is well received by the victims of Harbourne's offending, and sends a clear message that burglars should stay away from our policing area."
