The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) has scooped two honours in the Cotswold Awards.
The classic railway, operating heritage steam and diesel trains across 14 miles between Cheltenham and Broadway, was named 'Best Attraction in the Cotswolds' in the 'Experience Awards' category.
Its Cotswold Festival of Steam was crowned ‘Best Event in the Cotswolds 2023’.
The Cotswold Awards are an annual event organised by the online and social media guide, Cotswold Concierge.
Winners are decided through public voting.
Other noteworthy winners in the 'Experience Award' category included the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Blenheim Palace.
Richard Johnson, chairman of the volunteer-led GWSR Plc, said: "These awards were a complete surprise and we are thrilled to have been nominated top in these categories.
"That the winners are chosen by public vote confirms our railway is in the mainstream of attractions that make the Cotswolds the amazing place it is for families to visit.
"The Cotswold Festival of Steam has long been considered a ‘railway enthusiast’ event and while that remains true, it is broadening its appeal and drawing families excited by the wide range of things to do on our railway."
Mr Johnson described the festival as a "living museum", featuring a variety of visiting steam locomotives, rides on a steam locomotive footplate, a chance to explore behind the scenes, and much more.
He added: "I’m deeply grateful to everyone who voted for us – it’s a real feather in the cap for all our volunteers who work so tirelessly to make a visit to our wonderful Cotswolds railway such an unmissable experience."
Jack Boskett, editor of the railway’s membership magazine and a trainee steam locomotive fireman, was awarded 'Best Photographer' in the ‘Professional Services' category.
Mr Boskett often features photographs of the railway in national newspapers and is recognised as one of the country’s leading professional photographers.
Currently, the GWSR is running its 'Santa Express', attracting hundreds of families to visit Father Christmas by steam train and to enjoy the festive experience at the station.
Coinciding with this, the railway has launched its new annual pass, offering unlimited travel for holders.
