SEVERAL flood alerts have been issued for rivers in Worcestershire amid a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.

The Environment Agency has placed an alert warning that flooding is possible on the River Salwarpe from Catshill to Hawford.

It also warns that flooding may also affect Stoke Heath, Elmley Lovett, Droitwich Spa and Ombersley.

It said: "River levels are forecast to rise during the early hours of Monday at the Harford Hill river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

"Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible from 3am tomorrow (Monday).

"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Catshill to Hawford."

A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for Worcestershire on Monday which, the Environment Agency warned, will cause river levels to continue to rise.

"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until Tuesday," it added.

The River Avon could also be affected by flooding at Evesham.

The Environment Agency said: "River levels are forecast to rise during the early hours of Monday morning at the Evesham river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall."

It also expects flooding of roads and farmland from 3am tomorrow (Monday).

"We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent the River Avon from Abbotts Salford to Tewkesbury.

"Other locations that may be affected include Offenham, Evesham, Twyning and the Eckington Road."

It is predicted that levels will peak at Evesham between 2.5m and 2.8m as well as Bredon between 2.5m and 2.8m on Monday overnight into Tuesday (December 5).

The Environment Agency continued: "We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."

A third flood alert warning that flooding is possible was placed on the Bow and Piddle Brook with water levels forecast to rise during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Monday) at the Besford Bridge river gauge.

The Environment Agency said: "We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the Brooks from Webheath to Defford.

"Other locations that may be affected include Crowle, Wickenham, Peopleton, Pinvin and Pershore.

"Local fords may also be flooded."

The Environment Agency said it would be providing an update on Monday morning or as the situation changes.
