Firefighters at a Cotswold fire station learnt crucial life-saving techniques for animals.
Chipping Norton Fire Station took part in a two-hour training exercise which will ensure the animals they encounter have the best possible care in an emergency situation.
Session organiser Charli - whose last name cannot be revealed for security reasons - said: "As a pet owner myself, my cats and dogs are my family.
"It's peace of mind knowing that should the worst happen, the Fire Service is equipped to help in any way they can.”
Clare Jarratt, who is an acting crew manager at Chipping Norton Fire Station, said the session allowed the team to practise with specialist equipment.
“It provided fantastic guidance for our crew," she said.
"All Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service fire appliances carry pet rescue kits kindly supplied by the RSPCA, which contain three sizes of pet oxygen masks, a leash and a soft muzzle.
"It was great to be able to practice using this kit, as well as our standard bandages and first aid supplies on our canine visitors.
"As a Fire and Rescue Service, we are there to save lives and protect people, but of course, if we encounter animals at the jobs we attend, we are going to do everything in our power to ensure they receive the best possible care too.
"Sessions like this are invaluable for our training.”
