A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing in Evesham after an attempted getaway on a moped.
The suspect was arrested today on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.
At 10am this morning, members of the Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team were on patrol in Evesham High Street when their attention was caught by alleged drug deal taking place.
Police approached the suspected dealer on a moped and the rider attempted to drive off but officers managed to apprehend him.
The male, who is currently in police custody, was also arrested for failing to stop for police, driving whilst unfit through drugs, dangerous driving and driving with no insurance.
A search of the male has found him to be in possession of over 100 wraps of suspected class A drugs as well as class C drugs.
Sergeant Shaun Blackshaw from the NCFT has said “This was a great proactive stop by officers in Evesham.
"I am keen for the benefit of the NCFT to be felt across the whole of South Worcestershire. With the assistance of local response and safer neighbourhood units, police have seized the moped and recovered a significant quantity of drugs off our streets.
"Drugs ruin lives and we hear often from residents in Evesham of the impact this is having on their town. I urge members of the public to report any suspicious behaviour and we will proactively target these areas to stop offending.”
