THE police and crime commissioner was unable to attend a meeting with Evesham Town Council due to “unforeseen personal circumstances.”
West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion was due to attend a meeting of Evesham Town Council on Monday (October 9) for a public question and answer session but did not attend.
A spokesperson said: “The police and crime commissioner was unable to attend due to unforeseen personal circumstances.
“The town council hasn’t raised any specific or urgent issues directly with the police and crime commissioner.”
“The PCC’s office is liaising with the town council for a suitable date to visit”
At the meeting on Monday, town council clerk Jo Adams told councillors: “I haven’t had any communication with the commissioner himself, his staff said he couldn’t come.
“We asked if the deputy could come but that wasn’t possible either.”
Cllr John Clatworthy said the town council should still air their concerns with the police and crime commissioner despite his non-appearance.
“I think it's important that us as councillors who have issues to raise, and members of the public who have taken the time to come here tonight with issues that they would like to raise, that they should be given the opportunity to raise them.
“If they are questions that would have been asked, I think they should be raised so they could be considered.”
