A PLAY area in Moreton is set to close next week to make way for new equipment.
The children of Moreton will soon be able to enjoy an array of new play equipment at Queen Victoria Gardens.
The existing play area will be undergoing a major revamp from Monday next week (October 9).
To allow the work to take place, the existing play area will be out of use until the end of October or early November.
A spokesperson for Moreton-in-Marsh Town Council said: "The intended start date for the installation of the new play equipment in QVG is Monday, October 9 2023.
"The existing play area will be closed from this date until the end of October or early November 2023, but the nearest play area in the town is in Tinkers Close, which will be open."
The date on when the park will reopen is dependent on the weather.
In June, the council ordered the equipment for the park, with the project expected to be completed in the Autumn of this year.
The new play area is designed to be more accessible and inclusive.
Among the equipment ordered are a tipi carousel, new swings and interactive play panels.
The centrepiece will be a Fuji tower with a tube slide.
The park will come with a Toddler Ramp unit designed for tactical play.
It will also come with an inclusive cone twister with flooring suitable for all children, climbing challenges, low-level seating on the climbing apparatus for children to relax, and a wheelchair-friendly apparatus.
The park will have over 50 play features and can house around 130 children.
The flooring of the park will be a wetpour pad with connecting pathways for easier accessibility for all.
Previously, the council's new chair, Malcolm Berry, said: "I am pleased and excited to say that the council has already ordered an array of new play equipment for the QVG area and is working with the providers to establish installation as soon as the items are available."
