A LACK of communication around the Wasps director taking over Worcester Warriors is "frustrating to hear" according to Robin Walker MP.

A statement from Wasps has confirmed that a loan it made was not paid back in time, which led to 97 per cent of shares being transferred to Loxwood.

Loxwood Holdings Ltd, Christopher Holland's company which bought Wasps out of administration, was made the 'person with significant control'.

The Worcester MP said he is disappointed at the lack of communication about the new majority ownership.

Mr Walker said: "I was enormously frustrated to hear this latest news coming out of the club. There has been no information from Atlas about this which is not good at all.

"The key thing we need to know is how can we get professional rugby to return. I had heard some discussions from the RFU and the PRL about the possibility of returning at the level below but I have no idea what is happening now.

"I really want to know where the new owner is coming from. It is concerning because the new owner may not have the love for Worcester and the club that the fans do.

"I would urge the new owner to listen to the fanbase. We need professional rugby back under the Worcester Warriors banner.

"We all want to see professional rugby return to Sixways but surprises like this along the way are not helpful at all."

The new owners said they had no interest in the property other than for their original purpose of leasing Sixways stadium for five years for a possible return of Wasps.

Instead, they pledged to 'protect' the club until a 'suitable, qualified entity' is found for the future. 

It said: "Whilst that shareholding controls the interest in the long lease of Sixways as well as the IP, brand and chattels of Worcester Warriors, our only interest remains in the option to lease the stadium for five years from May 2024.

"We will protect the interest in the long lease and the IP, brand, and chattels of Worcester Warriors until a suitably qualified entity is identified. We have no interest whatsoever in the property."
