A TAPESTRY detailing the history of Evesham has been officially unveiled.
The 45-foot-long tapestry created by Rotary in the Vale has gone on display.
Sandra Capaldi, president of the satellite club, came up with the idea two years ago and since then there has literally been blood, sweat and tears as members work to bring her vision to life.
She said: “The seed that was planted in my mind a few years back is now a stunning project completed by our dedicated tapestry group after two years of hard work.
“It’s been a labour of love for all of us who have worked on it and I’m not exaggerating when I say we’ve shed blood for it, fingers stabbed with sharp points in the process and so our DNA is embedded in the tapestry!
“It covers the history of Evesham from Neolithic times to the present day, a rich story telling of the important part our town played in the history of our country.”

The tapestry was unveiled at All Saints Church on Friday (May 19), ahead of the Evesham Medieval Market.
Mrs Capaldi was joined by chairman of Evesham Abbey Trust, Barrie Baldelli, who presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Also in attendance was the new Mayor of Evesham Alan Booth, Mayoress Crissy Smith and Deputy Mayor Sarah Schaathun.
“We all of us are so honoured and thrilled by the response we’ve had from the public who came to view it in All Saints at the weekend, it has been truly amazing,” added Mrs Capaldi.

The tapestry will be on display again next weekend (May 27 and 28) at St Lawrence’s Church.
All donations received will go towards supporting the Rotary’s local charities and community projects.
Rotary in the Vale was officially chartered last year, with Mrs Capaldi assuming role of president, having got involved with Rotary when the satellite group first launched in 2019.
