A county MP has called for immigration to be reduced.
Trade minister and Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston has said the UK occasionally needs "more people to come into the country".
However, he added that immigration should be reduced in "the long term".
This comes ahead of a speech by Home Secretary Suella Braverman at the National Conservatism Conference later on Monday in which she is expected to push for lower migration.
He told Times Radio: "For certain periods of time, sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down, but the key thing is having control ourselves and certainly in the long term, we need immigration to come down because that's what has been causing some challenges in local areas for a long period of time.
"But every now and again we also need more people to come into the country."
