An arcade which has been unused for half a century is set to be sold.

The sale of 31-33 High Street in Pershore has been agreed after the grade II listed property hit the market last year for £1 million.

Fox Town and Country Homes has handled the sale and say that the new potential owner is planning to give the town centre venue a new lease of life.

A spokesperson for the estate agents said: “We are thrilled to have finally agreed a sale of 31-33 High Street, Pershore.

“Whilst it has been a long process to find the right buyer, we have found a company who are going to be bringing it back to life again and give it a fabulous resurrection on the high street.

“We have noticed the enthusiasm, excitement, and passion that the people of Pershore have for this building as well as the love and hope they have for it being restored into the beautiful building it used to be."

They added that it had been empty and disused for a long time and hoped it could be a vibrant and beautiful part of the High Street once again.

“This is something Fox Town and Country Homes are very proud of being a part of.”

The town centre property has not been marketed or occupied for over 50 years.

It is made up of five shops and four self-contained one-bedroom flats, featuring “characterful” beams, bay shop windows and “bright and airy” spaces, according to the listing.

Also included in the sale is around a third of an acre of land to the rear of the property which has potential for development, subject to planning.

News of the impending sale has been welcomed by residents of Pershore, who are looking forward to seeing what the new owner makes of the property.

Sarah-Jane Cother said: “I'll be very interested to see what shops become available to let, they are beautiful.

“I have loved this arcade since I was a child.”

Steph Williams added: “That’s great, I can’t wait to see the eyesore in Pershore gone.”
