A JUDGE said a 19-year-old had used up his last chance as he sent him to jail.
Ethie Perry was given a suspended jail sentence but within weeks had reoffended, police catching him with a knife in a car he had no licence to drive.
Perry, who brought a bag to court, gave no reaction as His Honour Judge James Burbidge KC, Worcester's most senior judge, said he had no choice other than to send him to prison.
Chloe Appleby, prosecuting, said Perry of James Drive, Evesham and previously of North End, Pinvin, Pershore, reminded the judge he gave Perry the suspended sentence for using counterfeit cash in April last year.
Perry used fake £50 notes which had printed on them 'movie use only' to pay for a car and mobile phone.
Miss Appleby said on June 6 last year police stopped an Audi A3 in Gosney Fields, Pinvin.
The prosecutor said checks were made on the vehicle and it was found Perry had no licence so was uninsured to drive it.
"The vehicle was searched," Miss Appleby said.
"A knife was found."
The prosecutor added Perry had three convictions for five offences.
Jason Smith, the court liaison probation officer, said Perry's compliance with the requirements of his suspended sentence order was "mixed" as he had failed to attend unpaid work appointments.
Perry had admitted no licence and no insurance but had originally denied the knife offence, being convicted after a trial.
Mahan Manu, defending, said: "The knife was in the rear passenger footwell, placed there by his father and used to cut tape to hold up an electric window.
"The magistrates did not find that was a reasonable excuse."

Mr Manu said he missed unpaid work appointments were due to rail strikes, but the judge rejected this describing them as excuses.
"My strongest argument for it being unjust is the offences before the court are dissimilar to the dishonesty matter," Mr Manu said.
"He has not offended since June."

Judge Burbidge said: "I'm afraid there can only be one sentence.
"You pose a risk to the public - you were prepared to drive a motor car having never passed a test."
Judge Burbidge also said he was sceptical about the knife explanation given to the court.
The judge jailed Perry for a total of 10 months.
Six penalty points were also added to Perry's licence.
