NEW figures have revealed which GP surgeries in the town have the longest wait for an appointment.
The data shows the different waiting times for both GPs and nurses across Evesham as well as the number of face-to-face and telephone appointments.
Government ministers have claimed the numbers have been made available to help patients make “more informed choices” but some health bosses are warning that the figures ‘don’t accurately reflect reality.’
A total of 30,000 appointments were made to see a GP or nurse in Evesham in October with 48 per cent of people seen on the same day and 54 per cent seen within a day and 75 per cent within a week.
Almost 87 per cent of people were seen within two weeks.
More than 850 people had to wait more than a month in Evesham for a GP appointment, according to the figures with 340 waiting between three-and-four weeks and 335 waiting between two-and-three weeks.
This is compared to the 1,300 people who had to wait between a week and two weeks for a GP appointment in Evesham and almost 2,000 people who had to wait up to a week to see a GP.
Figures show that 58 per cent of appointments carried out in Evesham were face-to-face in October with 40 per cent made over the phone.
Almost 17,300 appointments were carried out face-to-face during the month, according to the figures, compared to 12,000 telephone appointments.
More than 10,700 people were seen on the same day by a GP in Evesham in October after requesting one – around 66 per cent of all GP appointments in the month.
Of the surgeries in Evesham, Merstow Green Medical Practice saw 86 per cent of appointments made on the same day closely followed by 80 per cent at DeMontfort Medical Centre in Burford Road.
A total of 67 per cent of GP appointments at the Riverside Surgery were made on the same day and 54 per cent and just 38 per cent of appointments at Abbey Medical Practice were made on the same day.
