A lorry full of presents from Evesham has arrived at its destination.
Teams4u Evesham, part of the international children’s charity, collected more than 8,000 shoeboxes filled with toiletries, clothes and toys for Ukrainian refugees.
A lorry, driven by Nicu and containing 8,633 shoeboxes, set off from the charity’s warehouse on Davies Road at the end of last month.
On Thursday, December 1, the lorry arrived in the city of Oradea, in Romania.
Upon arrival, it was unloaded by Teams4u Evesham’s partner, Raul Gherle, along with many helpers.
Raul is a social worker in Romania and runs a charitable organisation called ‘Friends, Hope for Humanity’ which helps tackle homelessness.

On Saturday, December 3, the team back in Evesham loaded up a second lorry with 9,250 shoeboxes on board.
The second lorry is now on its way to Romania but will instead head to the city of Arad before progressing over the Danube Delta to the city of Tulcea on the Black Sea.
Next week a small team of volunteers, namely Emma Walker, and Paul and Alison Jeanes, from the Evesham warehouse will head out to Romania.
There, they will spend a week helping to give out shoeboxes to vulnerable children and families in need.
Boxes will also be loaded onto another lorry and taken up close to the Ukraine border where they will give out shoeboxes to children who have fled their country in the recent conflict.
