Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston has welcomed the new Prime Minister.
Rishi Sunak was officially appointed as the UK's PM today following the resignation of Liz Truss, who beat him in a leadership contest just weeks ago.
Due to his role as a Government whip, Mr Huddleston was unable to publicly support any candidate in the most recent contest.
However, he has now welcomed the news that Mr Sunak will lead the Conservative Party.
He said: “My warmest congratulations to Rishi Sunak on becoming leader of the Conservative Party and our new Prime Minister.
"I am confident he will be an outstanding Prime Minister who can restore trust, rebuild the economy, and reunite the country.”

Fellow Worcestershire MP's Robin Walker and Harriett Baldwin have both shown their support for the new PM.
Mr Walker, MP for Worcester, said: “I have long been convinced that we need someone of Rishi Sunak’s calibre to lead our party and the country."
West Worcestershire MP, Mrs Baldwin, had previously backed Penny Mordaunt to be the next PM.
On Mr Sunak's appointment, she said: "I am delighted to congratulate Rishi Sunak on becoming our new Party leader and thus our next Prime Minister.
"The parliamentary party united behind him today and we will stay united in order to deliver for our constituents."
