LARGE amounts of surplus soil for a flood defence to protect vulnerable homes will soon be moved into place, leading to road closures.
Work will start tomorrow (Thursday) on moving surplus soil from the A4440 Southern Link Road to its new home in Severn Stoke where it will be used to create a flood defence.

Worcestershire County Council highways says, starting tomorrow, they will be moving surplus soil from Worcester Southern Link Road compound to the Environment Agency flood defence scheme at Severn Stoke.
"The slip road from Temeside Way towards Powick will be closed weekdays for approximately three weeks to safely accommodate lorry movements."
Several thousand cubic metres of material will begin to be moved by lorries and the process will take up to three weeks.
Councillor Marc Bayliss, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy, Infrastructure and Skills said: “I am delighted that we are able to donate soil from the Southern Link Road construction site to support the Environment Agency flood defence scheme at Severn Stoke.
“This joined-up approach between Worcestershire County Council and the Environment Agency (EA) has made the EA scheme financially viable and has the added advantage of avoiding the transportation of surplus soil over long distances.
To allow the removal of soil to take place, there will be lane closures in place on the slip road towards Malvern, off Powick Roundabout on weekdays, then removed at weekends. This is to allow the lorries to manoeuvre safely. Once the soil has been removed the storage area will need to be reinstated and the temporary site entrance removed."
