A salon which opened during the pandemic has overcome challenges to be nominated for a national award.
The Courtyard Hair Salon at Blackminster Business Park is in the running for the ‘Best New or Refurbished Salon of the Year’ award at the 2022 Salon Awards.
Owner Kirsty Cameron originally planned to open at the new venue, just outside of Evesham, in November 2020 before a second Covid-enforced national lockdown torpedoed the plans.
It was eventually able to open for three weeks before a third wave of lockdowns hit.
Having now finally got up and running, Kirsty is delighted with the nomination.
"Since moving to our modern salon at Blackminster Park, we haven’t looked back," she said.
“We have new clients joining us every single week and with our out-of-town location which has free parking, our new salon is more convenient for our customers than travelling in to town.
“After the difficult time we faced with lockdowns stopping our original opening plans, our nomination for a 2022 Salon Award is well-deserved acknowledgment of the hard work of our entire salon team.”
Kirsty has been working in the industry for over 27 years, eventually taking over an established salon on Bridge Street, Evesham, in 2013.
She rebranded it into The Courtyard before deciding to relocate seven years later.
The new venue is more than twice the size of the Bridge Street salon.
Kirsty explained that they are committed to helping the environment, and are a part of the Green Salon Collective, as well as using Kevin Murphy products, made from ocean waste plastic of fully biodegradable packaging.
The Salon Awards were founded in 2017, with the aim of recognising the work of salons, hairdressers and barbers for their work.
The Courtyard faces competition from more than 40 other salons for the Best New or Refurbished Salon award.
