An Evesham charity shop is relaunching this week.
The Oxfam on High Street will reopen on Tuesday with a new person as a specialist book and music shop.
This comes after a week-long closure during which time it was converted, in an effort to keep up with the demands of the town.
Shop manager Lindsey Lavender said: “The decision was made on business need as there are no specialist book or music shops in Evesham as well as the turning tide of customers back to physical rather than digital books and music and because books are one of our highest sellers in the shop too.
“Oxfam Evesham will become your go-to shop for anything music or book related.”
The relaunch comes with a schedule full of guest appearances and activities for the whole family.
Tuesday will see musician Kev ‘Spitz’ Spittle playing 50s music from 11am, before children’s storyteller Teresa Davis pays a visit at 2:30pm.
Then, at 11am on Thursday, poet laureate Rhianna Levi will host a workshop and competition.
The opening week comes to a close on Friday with the official opening of the Evesham Festival of Words, hosted by chair of the festival Sue Ablett at 2pm, before Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston picks the winner of the ‘book character’ drawing competition at 4pm.
Beyond all the activities taking place, the Oxfam branch will boast a range of new arrivals including Tolkien books in a range of languages and a small collection of Wisden’s Cricket Almanac.
On the music side of things, the shop will have be selling vinyl, sheet music, as well as CD’s and DVD’s.
Anyone interested in volunteering or offering quality books and music donations is asked to contact Lindsey at the shop on 01386 41009.
