Residents are running out of time to have their say on the political makeup of Wychavon.

The Local Government Boundary Commission is reviewing the shape of council wards in the south of the district and has now launched a final six-week consultation following two previous periods.

The commission is proposing sixteen wards for the south of the borough, with a particular focus on submissions relating to the areas in and around the towns of Drakes Broughton, Evesham, and Pershore.

Launching the consultation Professor Colin Mellors, chair of the commission, said: “We are publishing further recommendations for a new pattern of wards across the south of the district, and we are keen to hear what local people think of the recommendations.

“We want people in Wychavon to help us.

“We have drawn up final proposals for new wards in the south of Wychavon. We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.

“Residents and local organisations have already helped us in refining our earlier proposals. Now we would like them to let us know whether they agree with our proposals before we take final decisions.

“It’s easy to get involved. Go to our website. Or you can e-mail or write to us.

“Just tell us what you think and give us some details why you think that. It’s really simple, so do get involved”

The new political map for the south of Wychavon would consist of two three-councillor wards, five two-councillor wards, and nine single-councillor wards.

One change made from the commission’s original draft proposal is the creation of wards in the west of the district with clear urban or rural identities around Drakes Broughton and Upton Snodsbury.

There are also plans to split several two-member wards into two single-member wards and to ensure that Great and Little Comberton are in the same ward, as well as linking the parishes of Wick and Pershore.

The proposal also looks to reconfigure the wards in Evesham following local feedback.

The consultation on the proposals will run until August 8 and the commission is not seeking submissions regarding the north of the district.

Residents are invited to comment on the names of wards, boundaries, and number of councillors by going online, emailing reviews@lgbce.org.uk, or by writing to the following address:
