An Evesham firm will run 100 miles in memory of a rugby player who died earlier this year.
Aged just 27, Jack Jeffery died after being injured whilst scoring a try for Evesham RFC on February 12.
Now, the A-Plan Insurance Evesham branch is setting out to complete a 100-mile relay in order to raise £1,000 for renovations at the club.
“A 100-mile ‘JJ’ inspired relay is a magnificent gesture to our community," said David Summerfield, chair of Evesham RFC.

Mr Summerfield added: “We are honoured that A-plan is thinking of Jack, his family, and our club, and looking to provide much-needed support through their huge efforts over the weekend.
“Jack had an infectious smile in all that he did and served his club with distinction. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters.”

The challenge will see the A-Plan team take part both virtually and in-person as they work together to run 100 miles.
The relay will get underway at 6am on Saturday, May 21, and finish at 2pm the following day with all participants taking part in a final lap of the rugby club field.
Event organiser Deborah Hacklett, branch advisor at A-Plan Evesham, explained why they decided to take on the mammoth task.
She said: “A-Plan Evesham’s commercial manager, Jake Meredith, was Jack’s neighbour growing up, and many of us went to school with members of Evesham Rugby Football Club and remain friends to this day.
“After hearing the tragic news of his death in February, we wanted to do something positive in his memory.
“We know the club wants to improve their facilities - and we feel it is important to enable the club to continue to support the local community in terms of activities and social events, encouraging healthy living and mental health support through outdoor activity, teamwork and exercise.
“We approached the club and Jack’s family with our idea for a fundraiser in his name. It was important to put our heart and soul into this.”
A-Plan Evesham has set up a Just Giving page.
