A toilet block refurbishment in Evesham has been delayed.

The Waterside toilet blocks were originally due to be completed in May but Wychavon District Council has now confirmed the finish date has been pushed back to July.

Councillor Emma Stokes, executive member for resident and customer services, said: “The original completion date for the redevelopment of Waterside toilets was 13 May 2022. However, due to several delays, we are now expecting that the work will be complete in July.

“Whilst we are disappointed that this much-needed scheme won’t be delivered on time, we are extremely proud to have won the latest Public Sector Loo of the Year Award and these toilets are being redeveloped to the same high standards.”

Work first began in November, with Workman Gardens fenced off to allow for the partial demolition of the block.

The plan is to install new energy-efficient measures such as greywater harvesting tanks, combined energy-efficient taps and dryers.

Additionally, new changing places will be created, offering specialist facilities for people with disabilities.
