HUGE B-52 bombers passed over Worcestershire on their way to RAF Fairford.

Aircraft enthusiasts have been excitedly awaiting the United States Air Force bomber planes landing at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

The huge military aircrafts were due to pass the west of the city between Worcester and Leigh flying at an altitude of 24,000ft.

One B-52 was spotted flying over Malvern at just before 3pm.

The B52 bomber has the call sign HATE13 and is flying at a speed of 412.0kts.

There are eight of them due to fly into the Royal Air Force Station today.

According to a social media post on Sunday, they are heading from North Dakota to RAF Fairford as part of the Bomber Task Force mission strategy.

Bomber Task Force missions help maintain global stability and security. 

 

The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is a long-range jet-powered strategic bomber from the United States.

It is capable of carrying up to 70,000 pounds worth of weapons and was built to carry nuclear weapons for Cold War era deterrence missions.

The latest upgrades to the planes are expected to serve for the next three decades. 

Aircraft enthusiasts may have also spotted a Royal Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III flying over Cotheridge and Great Malvern this afternoon (Thursday).

It took off from RAF Northolt in Hillingdon and after doing a loop around Worcestershire flew towards Hereford travelling at over 18,000ft.
