A spokesman for Openreach said: “We’re repairing a faulty cable here, which involves laying around 50 metres of underground ducting and then more than 100 metres of new cable.
"This is a fairly significant piece of work, that we anticipate lasting for the rest of this week. Our engineers arrived on-site earlier today, and are working as quickly as they can do.
"Working with underground infrastructure can be sometimes problematic and often unpredictable but they’ve already made good early progress.
"We apologise for any disruption caused in the local area while this work is being carried out.”
