Rail services in Evesham are facing disruption after a person was hit by a train earlier today.

Trains running through Evesham have been cancelled and delayed as a result of the incident.

Shortly after 7am Great Western Railway services tweeted to confirm that a person had been hit by a train between Reading and London Paddington.

The tweet stated that all lines would be closed and trains running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or suspended between Reading and Slough.

Shortly before 10am GWR confirmed that all lines had reopened.

However, services in Evesham continue to be affected with the next scheduled train, the 11:34am to Hereford, delayed by 20 minutes.

Great Western Railway added: "Services may still be delayed by up to 60 minutes or cancelled whilst service recovers.

"TfL Rail services are returning to normal, but some trains may be delayed by up to 10 minutes."

The National Rail website states that disruption is expected until 12pm.

Anyone affected by the incident on the network today is reminded that the Samaritans are available on 116 123.
