ROCK Choir is launching a new choir in Evesham this January, under the direction of local musician and Rock Choir Leader, Jacob Ashworth.
The new term began this week of January, with weekly rehearsals taking place from now on at The De Montfort School on Wednesday evenings from 7.45pm-9.15pm.
Singers of any age and ability are warmly invited to come along to Rock Choir for a free taster session and experience first-hand the fun and friendship that current members from all across the UK experience when singing together.
The new spring term will give ‘Rockies’ the chance to learn three new, specially arranged songs, including an enchanting rendition of A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.
During the height of lockdown, Rock Choir had to move all of its rehearsals online, teaching and rehearsing with members via Zoom and YouTube sessions. Since September 2021, Rock Choir has been able to rehearse indoors and in person, harmonising together once again after 18 months physically apart.
In addition to the live rehearsals, Rock Choir is continuing to give those who prefer or need to remain isolated the opportunity to take part in the spring term with the National Online Rock Choir.
To ensure they don’t miss a single note, Rock Choir members can learn all of the songs from the comfort of their own homes and can choose to re-join the physical rehearsals whenever they are ready to do so.
Jacob said: “I can’t wait to welcome new members (‘Rockies’) to the Evesham Choir and to give them the exciting and morale-boosting opportunity to sing together in harmony especially after the difficult time we have all experienced during the pandemic.
“No one has to audition and there’s no requirement to read a score. Singing together and forming new friendships and social connections gives everyone such an important boost to their wellbeing and the new year is the perfect time to join us no matter what experience in music or singing anyone has.
“Rock Choir is like a family and to witness the healing power of singing and socialising in person is very special.
“We would love to welcome anyone who would like to join Rock Choir this term and invite people of all ages and abilities to come and be a part of this fantastic group of individuals.”
