A MINOR injuries unit in Evesham has been forced to close for the New Year Bank Holiday weekend due to pressures as Covid cases rise across the country.

Although no official cause was given for the pressures which sparked the closure, cases of the Omicron variant are known to be increasing nationwide.

A spokesperson for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust said: "Due to current pressures we have taken the decision to temporarily close Evesham Minor Injury Unit over the bank holiday weekend. We will continually review the position over the weekend. Minor Injury Unit’s at Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and Malvern remain open."
