A high street chain in Evesham has closed down for good.
The Evesham branch of Superdrug shut its doors for the final time on Saturday, November 13.
The store, 11-13 on Bridge Street, first opened five years ago but now customers will have to go elsewhere.
A spokesman of the store announced the news on Sunday.
In a Facebook post, they wrote: “We are very sad to announce that we have closed down for good as of yesterday.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and very sad it has come to this.
“Thank you to all the customers over the past five years, hopefully see you soon.”
The post also added that anyone with a health and beauty card can still use it online or in another branch.
The nearest Superdrug stores are Stratford, Worcester or Cheltenham.
The news has come as a shock to shoppers with many believing the closures to be a huge dent to the Evesham high street.
Commenting on the post announcing the closure, Sally Haynes wrote: “Absolutely no reason to go into town now, nothing left.”
Another commenter, Sophie De Ath, said: “The only shop in Evesham that was worth going to.”
Other residents shared their sympathy for the branches staff, who may have to find new work.
Katie Gilbert commented: “So sorry! Girls were always so friendly!”
Libby Anderson added: “Where am I going to waste all my money now?”
The high street unit won’t stay empty for long, with a new business arriving on Friday, November 26.
The shop will be taken over by Savers, which will move from its current location in Riverside Shopping Centre which will be open until 5:30pm on Thursday, November 25.
Superdrug and Savers are both operated by the same parent company, AS Watson.
A statement from Savers said: “AS Watson decided the fresh start for Savers was the best way for the company to move forward in Evesham and every measure was taken to ensure all team members were accommodated.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to seeing you in the new store!”
A spokesperson for Superdrug also confirmed that all staff have been offered roles at either Savers or nearby Superdrug branches.
