Highways England have responded following the most recent fatal crash on the A46.
On Wednesday, November 10, two crashes occurred on the road near Hinton-on-the-Green barely an hour apart from each other.
In the first incident a woman had to be cut free from her vehicle whilst in the second a man in his 50s was killed when his car collided with a lorry.
The crashes have resulted in a huge surge of people signing a petition, asking authorities to increase safety on the road.
Now, Highways England have responded, saying they continue to assess the situation.
Ian Doust, National Highways programme development manager, said: “Safety is always our top priority and we fully understand the concerns of people around this location.
"We’re currently monitoring the A46 at Hinton-on-the-Green to assess any necessary steps which can make it safer for motorists.”
