PERSHORE Town Football Club is hosting a charity match to raise funds for the family of a motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A44.
Tomasz Kozmicki was on his way to work at Severn Waste Services when the collision occurred at 7am on July 9.
He was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision between his Yamaha motorbike and a VW Touran at the Salters Lane junction in Lower Moor, near Pershore.
Mr Kozmicka, aged 41, from Evesham, left behind his wife, Agata, and their two children aged six and eight.
As we reported in July, a Go Fund Me page was set up by family friend Marcin Fuja to raise money for Agata, who has been battling an aggressive brain tumour.
A statement on the fundraising page reads: "A tragic accident took the life of Tomasz Kozmicka.
"As if things aren't difficult enough for this family, Tomasz's wife is fighting cancer (glioblastoma multiform tumor) and has already struggled with it for the past few years.
"This family needs your help. As we all know life is so cruel and unfair taking our beloved ones too soon leaving holes that will never be filled.
"But when you're living with cancer already, with two young ones to support and reassure, every little really will help.”
So far, the appeal has exceeded its target of £12,000 with £15,500 donated by more than 400 supporters.
Speaking to the Evesham Journal after the collision, workmate Andy Pullen said all who knew him were “devastated”.
"It is a huge shock,” he said. “It’s surreal. I cant believe it has happened. He was very quirky. Had a big personality and was great fun to be around.
"He often spoke of his wife and children. His family were a huge part of his life and he loved them dearly.
"Everyone who knew Tomasz through work is absolutely devastated. It has hit us really hard."
The charity football fixture on Friday, September 10, will see two local firms — Wrubble Ltd and Dolphin Tec — go head to head at 7pm. Gates open at 5.30pm and entrance is £2.50 (free for children) to include a raffle ticket.
Prizes include an original artwork by Pershore graffiti artist Mr Sce, a £60 voucher from LM Private hire and a bluetooth speaker worth £170. A full list of pledges, donations and prizes can be viewed by visiting wrubble.co.uk.
