A LIMITED edition fan to commemorate Princess Diana's marriage to Prince Charles is up for auction later this year.
The specially commissioned fan is limited edition number 18 of the 20 made to celebrate the marriage of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer on July 29th 1981.
Marketed by the Fan Circle International, it comprises three white ostrich feathers mounted on a silver hallmarked (London TD) handle by the jeweller and goldsmith Thomas Dobbie and his wife Margaret.
Bought for £250 at the time, it comes with a fitted box and documentation including the invoice.
It also includes a photocopy of a photograph of Princess Diana carrying her own slightly different version of the fan which had been commissioned for her in 1980 as a special gift on her marriage.
It carries a pre-sale estimate of £700-1,000 and is coming up for auction at Cotswold auctioneers Kinghams Fans & Finery Auction on October 21.
