WORCESTERSHIRE has had its fair share of hopefuls take to the X Factor stage with dreams of stardom.

With news that the Simon Cowell fronted show is being axed we take a look back at the county's contestants and find out where they are now.

From hitting the big time to settling down with a family, here is what the Worcestershire's X Factor hopefuls got up to next.

Harry Styles

From being one-fifth of one fo the biggest ever boy bands One Direction to a chart-topping solo career, Harry Styles is perhaps the most successful X Factor alumni of all time.

One Direction managed to make it to the final and the band came third in the 2010 competition.

Born in Redditch, Harry recently performed his single Watermelon Sugar at the 2021 Grammys and was a cover star of Vogue.

Harry will be heading on tour later this year but sadly there are only US dates.

Cher LLoyd

Stepping onto the stage in 2010, a nervous 16-year-old Cher Lloyd from Malvern had one of the most memorable auditions.

Former Dyson Perrins student Cher blew away Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole with her take on Keri Hilson's version of Soulja Boy's Turn My Swag On.

Cher finished fourth place in the competition and released Swagger Jagger which hit number one in the UK chart.

Her follow up single With Ur Love featuring Mike Posner and success on both sides of the Atlantic followed with the song Want U Back and album Sticks and Stones.

According to her Instagram, Cher married Craig Monk in 2013 and has recently been back in Malvern with her adorable daughter Delilah-Rae, according to her Instagram.

Cher Lloyd is still releasing music featuring on Baddest with Imanbek earlier this year and One Drink Away in 2020.

Ginny Lemon

Ginny Lemon was set up as a bit of a joke act in 2017 but has gone on to be a fully fledged icon thanks to their appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

Their most memorable performance was Liberty X's Just A Little before their X Factor journey came to a halt at the Bootcamp stage.

Appearing on Drag Race UK earlier this year meant fans got to see another side to the Worcester star.

Ginny Lemon discussed growing up non-binary with fellow queen Bimini Bon Boulash before walking off the stage during the lip sync against Ellie Diamond.

This week, they have been starring in the West End at the Garrick Theatre and even had the Birmingham Bull dressed in their honour complete with their signature Crocs and yellow dress.

Gathan Cheema

Gathan Cheema, who was living on Tolladine Road at the time, auditioned for both the 2012 and 2013 series of X Factor.

In the 2012 series he was up against Rylan Clarke and made it to the last stages of Bootcamp and did not fair any better in 2013.

However, Gathan has continued to make music and has an even more important role nowadays as dad to son Addison.

Last year, we told how Gathan had cut his long hair to raise money for medics who saved the life of his son after he had a heart attack at just four months old.

Giles Potter

Giles Potter, from Norton, was just 16 when he stepped on the X Factor stage to sing Jessie J’s Price Tag in 2013.

He was an instant favourite with judges especially Gary Barlow who described the teen as the “heart and soul of the show”.

Giles made it all the way to Judges' Houses before Louis Walsh decided not to take him on to the finals.

Afterwards he joined boyband Stateside briefly and now describes himself as an entrepreneur on Instagram.

Currently, he is sharing sunny pictures of himself in Corfu and seems to be enjoying jetting around as well as days out in Worcestershire.
