A POPULAR Evesham chip shop is to close its doors until Friday due to the heat wave.
Hampton Chip Shop on Peewit Road, Hampton, Evesham, cited the welfare of its staff in making the decision with stifling temperatures continuing across the county.
A post on the shop's Facebook page read: "This morning inside the shop its 30 degrees, we haven't got any lights or equipment on either yet.
"Unfortunately this means tonight we would see well over 40 degrees in the shop at the very least. Based upon this I have taken the decision to close until Friday when the Met Office shows a drop in temperatures and the heat warning drops.
"Then we are expecting to see temperatures fall back into the mid 20s. I am not prepared to force the staff to work in this heat. Thanks for your understanding."
Comments from customers were positive on the matter but the shop is sure to be missed with an average rating of 4.9 stars out of 5 on Facebook.
