SIX sports clubs badly damaged during the summer floods of 2007, are to receive donations from Wychavon.
The clubs from Evesham and Pershore will be presented with cheques on Monday (7) evening from 6pm to 7pm at the Civic Centre, Pershore.
The money has been allocated through the council's flood recovery programme and the clubs will use the money to get their facilities back up and running.
Evesham Rowing Club will be the chief beneficiary of the money with a cheque for £26,500 being given to them to waterproof and tile walls in the ground floor of the building. Evesham Sports Club will receive a sum of £16,500 to re-floor their changing rooms and install flood-proof units in the kitchen.
Representatives of Pershore Football Club will be attending to pick up a cheque for £16,000 to be used towards installing flood barriers and replacing windows. Pershore Rugby Club will take receipt of a cheque for £13,350 to improve drainage and raise the height of electrical fittings.
Evesham Sailing Club will put their £5,000 worth of funding towards a new club house and Wychavon Kayak Club will be handed £2,650 in order to anchor down their storage units.
Jem Teal, community develpoment manager for Wychavon, said: "This is just another way that we are helping organisations to get back on their feet after the summer floods.
"Sports clubs in the area make an enormous contribution to improving the quality of life for people and we are always keen to support them and recognise this contribution, under these challenging circumstances."
