A COUPLE from Evesham will be celebrating their landmark diamond wedding anniversary today.

Eileen and James 'Jim' Ramsey, who live in Hampton are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary after they married on December 10 1960.

The couple are originally from Belfast and met when they were just teenagers and married when Eileen was 19 and Jim was 20.

Jim is a retired prison officer, and Eileen, who had worked as a cleaner, was a housewife and full-time mum to their three children Diane, Mark and Jim.

Jim and Eileen, who have lived in Evesham for more than 40 years, say the secret to a long and happy marriage is to be good friends, and not to go to sleep after an argument and to always make up first.

Grandchildren Danielle and Lee Ramsey, and great-granddaughters Summer and Maci said they know they are very lucky to have such great role models, and that Eileen and Jim are the best grandparents and great-grandparents they could have wished for.

Danielle, who also lives in Evesham and has been able to continue to see her grandparents during lockdown as they are currently in the same family 'bubble', said her grandparents will be celebrating today by seeing close family and sharing memories.
