FLOOD warnings remain in force along the River Severn through Worcester although water levels are slowly falling, the Environment Agency said this morning.
The water level is falling slowly at the Diglis river gauge but will remain high, so flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue.
Flooding is affecting properties at Quay Street, South Quay, Diglis Avenue and Hood Street as well as at Pitchcroft Lane, Waterworks Road, Newport Street, Croft Road and Diglis Dock Road. The racecourse remains under water.
Hanley Road, Upton, remains closed as well, and flooding is also affecting properties and roads in and around Kempsey and Severn Stoke. Kempsey pumping station remains operational.
Worcester peaked at 4.97m on Saturday morning, Saxons Lode peaked at 5.2m on Saturday evening, and Diglis peaked at 4.8m on Saturday morning.
On the River Avon, flooding is also affecting properties in Bredon, Strensham and Twyning.
An environment agency spokesman said: "No further significant rain is forecast over the next few days but we expect river levels to remain high.We are monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
Although things are improving please do not be tempted to drive through floods. Water can mask unseen surface hazards, as well as dips in the road.
