A FAMILY-run farm shop that is passionate about sourcing local produce from the Vale is celebrating four years in business.
Chadbury Farm Shop, run by owners Mark Ellison and Karen Phipps, is growing constantly and has added a lot of additional stock to its already groaning shelves.
As well as seasonal plums grown on 40 acres of their own land, the couple source vegetables from Evesham market and Drinkwaters, at Ebrington, to ensure the produce they sell is the freshest possible. Customers wanting to make sure they get the best can pre-order veg boxes and pick them up in the shop.
Among the fruit and vegetables, the farm shop also stocks locally made jams, chutneys and preserves, as well as the equipment needed for making your own.
Further along the shelves there is locally made bread with French bread available on Fridays and Saturdays. This weekend the couple are launching a range of gluten-free bread which is also provided locally.
"We have been asked about gluten free products and have been selling cakes and things for a while but this weekend we are starting to sell bread. It is lovely and very difficult to tell from ordinary bread," explained Mark, a fifth generation farmer.
Frozen fish and traditionally farmed beef and lamb is available for shoppers as well as local beers, wines and ciders. There is local honey and award-winning cheese along with coffees, teas, sweets, ice cream, delicatessen foods and flowers.
They also sell fresh eggs and bottles of oils and vinegars.
"We have grown to be more like a mini supermarket so people can get all sorts of products knowing they are sourced as locally as possible.
"We are happy with how the farm shop has grown over the past four years and have plans for the future where we may add a small cafe or tea room to make use of the big expanse of green space we have outside," he added.
The couple employ Rebecca Peters full time who helps manage the shop. There is a large car park and for those with a real fire there are stocks of coal and kindling.
Mark says the shop's philosophy is to be always affordable, whether luxury items or basics, and to support local producers and growers wherever possible.
They are open seven days a week with opening times of 9am to 5pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 6pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
Chadbury Farm Shop is the venue for many events throughout the year.
