THE World’s only pop-up track cycling competition, the StreetVelodrome Series, is heading for Evesham this coming weekend with free taster sessions for anyone who wants to give it a go.

On May 23 and 24, StreetVelodrome will be offering participants of all ages an exciting opportunity to try track style cycling at Evesham Country Park where all the necessary equipment will be provided free of charge and pro riders will be on hand to offer coaching and guidance.

“It’s a great opportunity to bring the benefits of cycling and the excitement of track cycling to the people of Evesham,” said StreetVelodrome Series director Carl Thompson.

“The banking takes just a few minutes to learn and with our professional riders on hand those taking part will gain a lot of cycling confidence in just a short while. Participants can also enjoy an Olympic style pursuit race against a friend or relative. It really is great fun.”

Maria Hughes, Centre Manage at Evesham Country Park added: "We are delighted to welcome such a unique activity to Evesham Country Park. We are passionate about the great outdoors and hope that the local community comes down and gets involved in a fun free event.”

Evesham Country Park will soon become 'The Valley’, with the Street Velodrome weekend set to be one of many new and exciting events this year.

The professional rider confirmed for the event will be the 2014 StreetVelodrome Series Pro Rider champion Dave Johnson.

With bikes, helmets and padding provided to cater for any age or size there are simply no barriers to taking part. The event is being held to help encourage more people, especially women and children, to be active and to try cycle sport.

The StreetVelodrome Series is a national televised tour aimed at finding Britain’s best amateur riders with competitive events held in towns and cities across the UK. The Series starts in Paisley on May 30 and concludes with a deciding final round held in central London on August 13.
