A SESAME oil buying club in Sedgeberrow helped to save residents 2.6 pence per litre on the average price in its first stand up order.
The group in the Vale village set up the club in order to help people save money on oil used to heat their homes.
In the first month they tendered for an order of 11,900 litres, for 20 club members to three suppliers. The price paid by all members was 46.83 pence per litre plus VAT.
The total club saving was £309.
Mike Parker, chairman of Sedgeberrow Sustainable and Manageable Energy and manager of the club, said: "Although this was the first time we have used the system I have been pleased with how smoothly the process has run for members, with only small hiccups.
"As more members register and order through the club, the more competitive will be our buying power and the greater the potential savings."
The next order deadline for people living in Ashton under Hill, Beckford, Dumbleton, Hinton, Aston Somerville, Sedgeberrow or Wormington is Monday, November 24.
After that it will be Monday, December 8 and Monday, January 12.
