PHOTOS mapping the history of the Vale over the last 100 years are still being sought by the town council as part of a new project.

Evesham Town Council is hoping to mark the centenary of the outbreak of World War One and look back over the past 100 years at the same time by displaying photographs in its town hall.

The photo project was an idea proposed by the town's new mayor councillor Charlie Homer and will be exhibited on the ground floor of the town hall, the former PJs Bar.

And the best submissions will be blown up and put on long term display around the bottom of the town hall in the windows, creating a timeline of life in the town from now back to 1914.

Cllr Charlie Homer said: "This exciting project will not only re-invigorate the ground floor of one of the town’s most prominent buildings, but it will also be a poignant way of marking the start of WWI in 1914.

"In addition it will celebrate 100 years of Evesham in photos. This project has got Evesham residents at its core and we are really looking forward to seeing what photos they have and putting them on display."

The council is hoping to see photos of interest to everybody, so shots of individual people in their homes or gardens would not be considered for the display.

Cllr Homer added they are not just looking for old photos but showing life right up to the present day.

Photos can be emailed to townclerk@eveshamtowncouncil.gov.uk or uploaded to Facebook group Photos and Memories of Days Past in Evesham at facebook.com/groups/1435525723335994/.

Hard copies can be dropped off at the town council offices at the Contact Centre, Abbey Road and they will be returned.
