IT is believed Evesham's Abbey Bridge will begin a ten week closure on Thursday, September 19.
The actual date has still not been confirmed, although Worcestershire County Council did confirm the closure would begin in mid-September following a three month delay on works due to bad weather.
During the closure, until Saturday, November 30, there will be a traffic diversion but pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the river Avon via a temporary bridge installed in April this year.
The alternate route will see drivers travelling both ways along Mill Street and then westbound along Swan Lane and east bouth along Oat Street.
There will also be reduced car parking prices, 20p for three hours in short stay car parks, and the Almonry Museum is waving its entrance fee during the closure period.
The bus service 550/551 will also be diverted as follows.
Heading towards Evesham the service will be diverted from B4084 Pershore Road in Hampton via Waterside to the Northwick Hotel and finish there, leaving out Evesham Bus Station.
In the opposite direction heading towards Worcester the bus will travel from the Northwick Hotel terminus, the service is to divert via Port Street, Bengeworth, Broadway Road, Davies Road, Cheltenham Road, to resume normal route back towards Hampton and on to Worcester.
A revised timetable will be in operation.
