A YOUNG fund-raiser cycling 2,012 km around the UK’s Olympic venues stopped off to pay a visit to his own Vale school.
Jake Phipps, aged 12, of Kersoe, near Elmley Castle, was halfway through his five-week challenge when he arrived at Bredon Hill Middle School on Friday, June 22.
Jake is cycling with family friend Philip Woods and his mum Nic, who also visited her workplace at St Richard’s First School.
She said: “After a really windy ride into Evesham, we got into St Richard’s just before lunch and Jake was able to talk to the year three and four groups in assembly time and also do a collection.
“After that we pedalled into an increasingly strong wind to Bredon Hill Middle School. The reception was absolutely fantastic. Jake’s year were waiting for him at the school gates and gave him a huge cheer as we cycled into the school. It was quite emotional.”
The three will end their journey in London on Tuesday, July 17. To follow their progress, visit bikewithjake.blogspot.com.
